Transferring a domain involves moving your domain from one registrar to another. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transfer process:

Step 1: Prepare Your Domain for Transfer

1. Unlock Your Domain:

   • Log in to your current domain registrar's control panel.
   • Navigate to the domain management section.
   • Find your domain and ensure it is unlocked for transfer.

2. Disable Privacy Protection:

   • If WHOIS privacy protection is enabled, disable it. This allows the new registrar to see the domain’s contact details.

3. Obtain the EPP/Authorization Code:

   • Request the EPP code (also known as the authorization code) from your current registrar. This code is required to authorize the transfer.

4. Verify Contact Information:

   • Ensure your domain’s contact information (email address) is accurate and up-to-date. The new registrar will use this email to send important transfer notifications.

Step 2: Initiate the Transfer with the New Registrar

1. Choose a New Registrar:

   • Select the registrar where you want to transfer your domain.

2. Start the Transfer Process:

   • Log in to the new registrar’s website.
   • Navigate to the domain transfer section and enter the domain name you wish to transfer.

3. Enter the EPP Code:

   • During the transfer process, you will be prompted to enter the EPP/Authorization Code.

4. Confirm the Transfer:

   • Confirm the transfer by following the instructions sent to the email associated with your domain.

Step 3: Wait for the Transfer to Complete

• Domain transfers typically take 5 to 7 days to complete.
• You may receive emails from both your current and new registrar to confirm and finalize the transfer.

Step 4: Verify the Transfer

1. Log in to Your New Registrar’s Control Panel:

   • Once the transfer is complete, log in to your new registrar’s account to confirm that the domain is listed under your account.

2. Update DNS Settings (if necessary):

   • If your website is hosted with a different provider, update the DNS settings in your new registrar’s control panel to point to your web hosting server.

Important Notes:

• Renewal Period: Many registrars require you to renew the domain for an additional year as part of the transfer process.
• Transfer Restrictions: Domains cannot be transferred if they are less than 60 days old or have been transferred within the last 60 days, according to ICANN policies.
• Domain Expiry: Ensure your domain is not close to its expiration date before initiating a transfer.
